I've heard so much about Sarah J. Mass (mostly her Throne of Glass series) and I thought it was about time to check out one of her books. One of my favorite booktubers, readwithcindy, despises this series. I, on the other hand, loved it! Well, the first book. This series follows a human girl, Feyre, who has to provide for her father and two younger sisters. On a hunting trip for food, she kills a wolf who happens to be from another world. When Tamlin shows up to drag her to his kingdom as punishment, she gets thrown into a dangerous game. If she loses, not only is her family and Tamlin in trouble, but everyone's doomed. Lot's of writers will say they have a strong female character and not follow through, Sarah, on the other hand, did. Feyre's a strong female character who doesn't like being pushed around and I appreciated that. Even though she was thrown into a whole new world, she held her head high and did the best she could to survive. Her sisters, though, were ......
An Ember in the Ashes is a book about two characters with very different point of views. Laia lives with her her grandparents and older brother in a village with not much money, but enough. When soldiers come to their house for a raid, her grandparents are killed and her brother is taken. She barely escapes. Now on her own, she's determined to find her brother and set him free. She poses as a new slave at Blackcliff, trying to find information to report to the Resistance, a group in hiding that plans to fight back, while in return they will help her find her brother. But working as a slave is worse than ever imagined. Former slaves have been punished for the simplest of things. One even jumped off a cliff just to get away. Will she end up like the servants before her? Elias is the commandant's son and the most skilled soldier at Blackcliff. The commandant treats him as if he were just another worthless soldier. She resents him, believing that he's a mistake. Now that the t......
Avalon High is about a teenage girl named Ellie. Ellie's parents are professors that decided to move during their sabbaticals, to Ellie's dismay. When they first get there, she sticks to herself, that is, until she runs into Will... literally. Will's Avalon High's star quarterback. To her surprise, he's not the typical jock; cocky or rude. In fact, he's quite polite. When she starts school, she gets assigned a project on King Arthur and everything starts to spiral. Why does she feel so attached to Will? Why does everything, in reality, seem to fit with the story of King Arther? And most importantly, who's trying to sabotage the reincarnation of King Arthur and his court? I give this book four stars. It was a quick read and has great twists and turns as it goes on. My favorite character was Will because even though he's the popular quarterback, he didn't use it against people and actually fights for the underdogs. I may be a little biased seeing as......
Ruby Red was originally written in German. It's about a girl named Gwyneth Shepherd. Gwyneth's sophisticated cousin, Charlotte, has been training to time travel her whole life. Everyone knew she was going to inherit the ability - she had the right birth date for it, of course. But when Gwyneth spins into another era, things become a lot more complicated. Turns out people have been lying about Gwyneth's birth date, and she's not very happy about the big change in her life. She wanted to be a normal girl with normal friends and a normal family. But then again, life can be a complete Hündin....especially when you least expect it. ...
What drew me in with this book was the short chapters. I don't know why, but it's so satisfying to be able to say you are on the 15th chapter in the first 10 minutes of reading it. Don't get me wrong, it's a normal length book, it just has a lot more chapters. Maximum Ride is about a fourteen-year-old girl named Max. Max was part of an experiment. An angel experiment. She practically lived in cages until Jeb helped her and five other kids escape from the horrid place. Sadly, Jeb died and they have been living on their own since, with Max in charge because she is the oldest. But when the Erasers, the School's wolf-human experiment, locate them at last Angel, the youngest and Max's favorite, is taken back to the place they hoped to never see or be anywhere near ever again. When they go to save her, will they get to her in time? Will they find out secrets they never knew? And most of all, will they make it out alive? This book is great for both males and fem......

"The Princess Academy" by Shannon Hale is a good book for ages 9-14. It has a little romance in it. It's a fiction book. I think it was good. Here's the description: Miri is a fourteen year old who lives on a mountain in a small village. One day the king's men come to get all the girls young enough to marry the prince. They are going to go to a castle-like place, to start learning to be "laidies". They call it the Princess Academy. Miri does NOT want to go, but she has to, king's orders. Ugh! So, when Miri leaves her loving father and sister, she's not as happy as the other girls. She makes friends and enemies. What happens? Are they safe? But more importantly: Who will be chosen to marry the prince? Find out by reading the book! This book is recommended to girls ages 9-14. I read it at 12. Hope you like the book! ...
